About me

my story

Hello, I am Ian!

Originally from Spain, I live in Denmark since 2006 and over the years I’ve successfully made Copenhagen my second home.

Life often takes unexpected turns, and what began as a two-year study trip abroad has turned into the place where I’ve spent most of my adult life.

In Spain I spent my childhood and early adulthood. My family of origin was highly dysfunctional, and as a child, I endured a fair share of suffering, including physical and psychological abuse. My parents divorced and remarried multiple times, and I also faced a great deal of instability, moving cities four times and changing schools seven times during primary and secondary school. After completing my first university degree (in chemical engineering), I made the decision to move abroad.

After years of being paralyzed by fear, I made the decision to transform my life

In my mid-thirties, despite achieving a significant level of success by societal standards, I experienced a profound personal and professional crisis that left me disoriented and devoid of meaning. I wasn’t content with the direction my life had taken, and I faced a critical choice: either continue down a path leading to a purposeless existence or confront my fears.

This involved numerous changes, including a career shift towards psychotherapy.

As I embarked on my personal journey of healing and self-discovery, I successfully transformed my childhood traumas into valuable life lessons.

This transformation was made possible through the invaluable work of my own psychotherapeutic process. I’ve learned to embrace uncertainty and make the unknown my ally, allowing it to assist me in confronting my fears.

This journey has empowered me to strive for a more meaningful life, directly making a difference by working with people.

I am here to listen with compassion, to help you understand yourself better, and to empower you to make the changes you desire

These experiences, combined with my professional education as a psychotherapist, provide me with firsthand personal insights into life’s trials and a profound understanding of the journey towards healing. I regularly receive supervision, prioritize my own therapy, and stay current through ongoing professional development.

If these words resonate with you, and you’re feeling ready to embark on your journey of self-healing and self-discovery, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.
